LACAAEA's 27th Annual Fish Fry and Annual Scholarship Awards, Sept. 11, 2010
Los Angeles, Sept. 11, 2010 -- The 27th annual "Fish Fry" was held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, bringing nearly 200 members of LACAAEA, their families and friends together at Mother's Beach, Marina del Rey, California.
It was an unusually cool and cloudy day but the anticipation of the festivities to come for our 27th annual
"Fish Fry" made it seem like it was the perfect weather. The Fish Fry has served, for many years, as a mechanism by the Association to thank all our members for their membership, constant support, and loyalty.
LACAAEA officers and members arrived very early in the morning to prepare fresh cooked seafood for the Fish Fry. While Henry was setting up the coffee pot, Philip prepared a delicious breakfast for the officers and members present.
Henry Yee and Phillip Ow, the head chefs, along with sous chefs Kenji Mayeda, Karen Tu, and Armando Garcia and Barbara Yu as the "Grill Master", once again prepared delicious fish dishes and seafood stew and barbeque chicken for everyone in attendance. The air was filled with intoxicating aromas each time the seafood stew pot was opened and as Phillip was cooking the fried fish and sweet and sour fish..

As the final preparations of the meal were coming together, LACAAEA President Irene Hamada welcomed all our members and guests to our 27th Annual Fish Fry event. President Hamada recognized and thanked all of her Board Members who made this event possible. Special thanks were given to Jackie Guevarra who chaired this year's event, and to everyone else who helped make this event a huge success. She proceeded by inviting everyone to enjoy the delicious food.
After everyone had enjoyed the meal,
the Scholarship Committee (Meav Ear, Chair, and Greg Sasaki) presented this year's scholarship winners and their families with their
certificates and scholarship checks. Afterwards, the children played various games (e.g., water balloon toss, Simon Says, etc), followed by bingo and raffle games hosted
by Jackie Guevarra, LACAAEA Vice President. Everyone in attendance had a great time!
