Los Angeles, Oct. 3, 2009 -- The 26th annual "Fish Fry" was held on Saturday, October 3, 2009, bringing together members of LACAAEA, their families and friends at Mother's Beach, Marina del Rey, California.
It was an exceptionally beautiful fall day with clear blue skies and bright sunshine with little wind. Coincidently, the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, falls on October 3, 2009 this year, the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month on the lunar calendar.
Therefore, some members of LACAAEA enjoyed the moon cakes at the Fish Fry festival in the earlier morning to
observe this traditional festival that boasts a history of over 3,000 years. The luminous fullest
and roundest moon is always faithful to be there when Mid-Autumn Day falls.
LACAAEA President Irene Hamada welcomed all our members and guests to our
26th Annual Fish Fry event. She recognized and thanked all of her Board Members who made this event possible. Special thanks was given to
Jackie Guevarra who chaired this year's event, and to everyone else who helped make this event such a big success. The Fish Fry has served, for
many years, as a mechanism by the Association to thank all our members for their membership, constant support, and loyalty.
Henry Yee and Phillip Ow once again prepared delicious fish dishes and
seafood stew for everyone in attendance. As always, Phillip cooked the fried fish and sweet and sour fish. Henry prepared his signature
seafood stew and the steamed fish. Click here for the entire menu prepared by Phillip Ow. LACAAEA officers and members arrived early in the morning to begin preparing
fresh cooked seafood for the Fish Fry. Evan and Lorraine Sunday-Brown provided the wonderful Hawaiian music, acted as MC for the event, and coordinated
the ever popular water ballon toss.(Click here for photos).

Members and their families began to arrive and join on the annual festival around 10:30 a.m., and brought some dishes
and dessert for the event. As always, Lorraine and Evan put together some really fun games for both kids and parents to enjoy! There was also bingo and raffles hosted by Irene Hamada and Jackie Guevarra. The Bingo
games were a big hit with the children and adults. The "Fish Fry" event ended after 3:00 p.m.
The Fish Fry has always been a great opportunity to network, visit with
old friends, meet new people, and enjoy the fresh ocean air, sand and sun. If you attended or were unable to attend, please visit LACAAEA's website to view photos from our exciting event. Looking forward to seeing everyone at next year's event.
