The Los Angeles City Employees Asian American Association (LACEAAA) hosted the 31st Installation Dinner at the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens in Downton Los Angeles. Members of the Los Angeles County Asian American Employees Association attended the Installation Dinner to congratulate the outgoing and newly elected 2009 - 2010 LACEAAAA Board Officers. John Chiang, California State Controller, delivered a special message to the audience concerning the State Budget crisis and wished the new LACEAAA Board much success in the future. Los Angeles -- The Los Angeles City Employees Asian American Association (LACEAAA) hosted the 31st Installation Dinner at the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens, (Downtown Los Angeles), April 2, 2009. Approximately 100 people attended the Installation Dinner.
Phyllis Yogi, the outgoing president of LACEAAA, served as Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening. Ms. Yogi gave the welcoming speech and introduced guests, Associations, and special dignitaries, including the California State Controller John Chiang and Honorable Los Angeles City Councilmember Ed P. Reyes, District One.
Mike Fong, incoming President of LACEAAA, welcomed everyone in attendance to the 31st Installation Dinner. He recognized all those in attendance for their continued support and assistance. He introduced his boss the Honorable Los Angeles City Councilmember Ed P. Reyes, District One.
Ed P. Reyes proceeded to the podium to speak to the audience and was acknowledging LAPD Deputy Chief Terry Hara who is the first Deputy Chief of API descent in the City of Los Angeles and installed the 2009-2010 LACEAAA Board.
Joe Quan, past President of LACEAAA introduced the Hotel's Executive Chef who commented on the details of the evening's meal and preparation methods at the podium. The audience gave the Chef a warm round of applause for the excellent dinner and dessert.
Both Mike Fong and Phyllis Yogi thanked the Los Angeles County Asian American Employees Association members in attendance for their tremendous support over the years.
The wonderful evening’s ambiance was enhanced by the soothing songs from a Hawaiian musical group known as Mehana Music. Memorable speeches by State Controller John Chiang and City Councilmember Ed P. Reyes honoring the outgoing and incoming Boards, and a special City scroll presented by Councilmember Reyes to the incoming Board highlighted the evening’s festivities.
The evening ended after each new board member received a special City scroll from Ed P. Reyes and posed a photo with him acknowledging each board member's volunteer service.
