Lori Li, 2010 LACAAEA Scholarship recipient
and Timothy Tam, 2009 LACAAEA Scholarship recipient, made a short speech thanking the Los Angeles County Asian American Employees Association
for its scholarship. Here's the excerpt from their speech:
"Hi, my name is Lori Li. I want to thank the Los Angeles County Asian American Employees Association for my scholarship. I am currently a freshman at USC double majoring in business in the Marshall school and accounting in the Leventhal school. In my freshman year, I hold two leadership positions. First, I am the funding representative of my residential hall’s building government. In this position, I work with other funding representatives to approve and allocate over $90,000 to distribute to events that help benefit residents. Second, I am the External Event Associate of the Asian American Business Association. In this position, I outreach to different companies and professionals and invite people to speak on campus. This spring break, I was fortunate enough to travel to Shanghai, China with 56 honor students from USC. When I arrived at the international airport, I was able to ride on the world’s first commercial Maglev train traveling 267 miles per hour for 19 miles in under 8 minutes. This 19 mile distance is the equivalent if someone were to travel from downtown Los Angeles to LAX. Also, I visited various companies and talked to various students from the top 2 universities in Shanghai, China and had lunch and dinner with them. Overall, this was a great trip, and I have had a great freshmen year. Again, I want to thank the Asian American Employees Association for the scholarship."
Timothy Tam's speech:
My name is Timothy Tam and I am a Mechanical Engineering major in Cal Poly pomona. My last year in college has been a wonderful experience. I've been building an racing cars and just having the time of my life. I want to thank everyone who donated to the scholarship fund. I really appreciate your money since you know students are called starving students because they really don't have money. Thank you for donating to the scholarship and I hope you keep on donating for future applicants.
