Gail Farber was appointed Director of Public Work on December 1, 2008. She serves as Road Commissioner, County Engineer, and Chief Engineer of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District. Ms. Farber, a Santa Ana resident, served as Director of Public Works/City Engineer in the City of Orange from September 2005 to November 2008. Prior to that, she served as Director of Public Works/City Engineer for the City of Pico Rivera from June 2004 to September 2005.
Prior to her City Engineer experience, she worked for the California Department of Transportation (CALTRANS), most recently as the Deputy District Director/Director of Transportation Planning for District 12 (Orange County) from September 2006 to June 2004. She worked for CALTRANS for a total of 19 years. In addition to serving as the CALTRANS District 12 Deputy District Director/Director of Transportation Planning, she held a variety of positions, including Office Chief of Design, Office Chief of Engineering Services, Project Manager, and Quality Program Manager for the Irvine-based District 12 Office, and Construction Resident Engineer for the San Diego-based District 11 office.
Gail Farber received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University in 1985.
