LACAAEA Annual Scholarship Program Recipients for 2008

This Scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors entering a four-year college. Ms. Bolinger was a Division Chief with the Chief Administrative Office. She was an active member of the LACAAEA and pushed for the creation of these scholarships. Sadly, Ms. Bolinger passed away before the first scholarships were awarded.  Photo Gallery

Howard Takata created the Howard Takata Trade/Vocational Scholarship for graduating high school seniors planning careers where certificates of completion are acceptable and college degrees are optional. Mr. Takata was one of the founders of the LACAAEA, who fought for recognition of Asian Americans in the County workforce and development of Asian Americans with qualifying job skills to compete for promotional opportunities. Mr. Takata retired in 1998 from the Internal Services Department (ISD), but remains active with LACAAEA.  Photo Gallery

On May 15, 2009, California State Governor Arnold Schwazenegger sent a Proclamation to congratulate the Los Angles County Asian American Employees Association and proclaim May 2009, as "Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month.". Click here for the Proclamation.

On May 20, 2009, California State Controller John Chiang sent a warm congratulations to the Los Angles County Asian American Employees Association in celebration of Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month. Karen Chang, Special Assistant to John Chiang, presented a scroll to LACAAEA President Irene Hamada for LACAAEA as one of the premier Asian Pacific Islander American employee associations. On May 20, 2009, Melissa S. Ramoso, Field Representative for State Assemblymember Ted W. Lieu, 53rd District also presented a scroll to LACAAEA President Irene Hamada for LACAAEA's outstanding achievment.
