Scholarship Committee member) and Tevy Sithan (Scholarship Committee member) after accepting the the Shirley Bolinger Four-Year Undergraduate Scholarship award at Marina del Rey, California, Sept. 17, 2011.
Tiffany made a short speech after accepting the award:
I would like to thank the Los Angeles County Asian American Employees Association first and foremost for their overwhelming support in my academic endeavors. As I enter my Senior year of high school and am planning my future career goals and college options, LACAAEA's generosity has engulfed me with excitement towards my upcoming transition into the next few years. I can reassure this scholarship will be put to good use and I hope to report positive news next year. I am deeply honored and moved to be a recipient this year, so thank you so very much. Secondly, I would like to thank my mom, dad, and older brother Eric, who have supported me my entire life. They never cease to pass down knowledge, advice, and encouragement --not only pertaining to my academics, but to life. My family has humbled me and always reminded me nothing is worthwhile in this life unless you help others. Lastly, I owe the acceptance of this scholarship to a few of my high school teachers, whom without their guidance and motivation I would not be where I am today. I am truly blessed with this amazing opportunity and promise to continue working hard to finish my senior year strong and begin a new chapter into the world of college.
